We are only able to accept spay/neuter patients within McLennan County currently. This is due to a significant nationwide shortage of veterinarians, especially those that focus on high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter. If you are on a type of low-income government assistance and would like us to review an exception, use the Note field in the online appointment request process.

Review each tip before scheduling a surgery appointment:

Age: The surgery age range is 3 months (12 weeks) to 7 years for cats and dogs (younger and older exceptions are at veterinarian's discretion).

Questions: Use the Note Field in the scheduling process to ask a question or send a note to the scheduler.

Financial Assistance: If you are on government assistance or need a portion of the surgery cost sponsored by a donor, one-time household help with the cost of surgery and microchip may be available. Use the Note field to mention your needs. If you have received surgery funding help in the past, you may still use the clinic's services at our regular, subsidized, partially donor-funded prices.

Donate to Help: Our surgery prices are significantly below our actual expenses so that most families can afford our base fees. If you can give, donations are much-needed and deeply appreciated! Spay it forward if you can.

Basic Services: Your pet can get vaccination updates, microchip heartworm testing, and refills for flea/tick/heartworm prevention on the day of surgery.

Heartworm Testing and Flea/Tick Products: If your pet is current on its vaccinations or your dog is currently receiving monthly heartworm prevention (with a test in the last 12 months) bring or email a copy of the prevention purchases and test results on the morning of surgery - info@animalbirthcontrol.org. This will avoid the need for another heartworm test and allow you to purchase heartworm/flea/tick product on the day of surgery. Let us know the medications you need.

Multi Pet Tip: if you have more than one pet to bring on one day, choose 2-3 days beyond the first available spot to help ensure that the number of spots you need are available. Ask the scheduler to combine appointment dates in the note field. You may be asked to place a deposit.

Pregnancy: If you have a pregnant cat or dog, this is more urgent, so mention this in the Note Field, text 254-776-7303, or contact your primary care veterinary clinic to check appointment availability.

Appointment Confirmation

You will receive an email after your appointment has been reviewed and approved 2-3 business days after scheduling. You will also be contacted with a text and/or call, and a reminder email 1-2 days prior to your pet's surgery appointment.

Reschedules

If you cannot keep the appointment, text (254-776-7303) or email at least 24 hours in advance so the opening can be used by another pet. We book 3+ weeks out, so there would be additional delay.
