Specialist
Position Summary
The Marketing Communications Specialist will help fulfill the Animal Birth Control Clinic’s mission to provide access to affordable spay/neuter and preventative veterinary care. The clinic’s work improves the health and safety of our community while enriching the lives of cats, dogs and their families.
Major functions and accountabilities while working closely with the executive director

Capture staff, owners, and pets in photos and videos of clinic activities.

Email weekly survey to surgery patient owners to gather story content and testimonials for use in marketing communications.

Create, order and publish print materials from images and content.

Assist in monitoring and responding to social media messages and post engagement.

Work with the clinic vision and strategy to implement an effective social media plan including daily content both scheduled and unscheduled.

Use Canva or similar to create images for social media and some print.

Collaborate with vendors to choose and implement print and promotional items (stickers, tshirts, etc).

Support the drafting and distribution of press releases.

Collaborate with ABC’s internal host on the website content, thinking creatively about the design and maintenance.

Support and act as an additional representative of the organization at some events, outreach, and media opportunities.

Support public and corporate marketing partnership activities.

Uphold brand standards on all external and internal materials.

Record donations and print donor thank you letters.

Collaborate with staff and board on 3-4 annual donor stewardship events and mailings.

Welcome volunteer opportunities; give orientation tours, train in basic tasks, oversee (with managers and staff) and report completed hours to partner entities.

Performs other duties as assigned.
Work Conditions

Full time, exempt position mostly in the office Monday through Friday and with some offsite activities and the option to work remotely, as appropriate.

Work schedule and hours may vary with social media interaction, event attendance and other activities, outside of office hours.

This position reports to and collaborates most with the Executive Director

Physical requirements are those present in normal office environment conditions and the ability to lift 30 pounds at times.

Potential exposure to zoonotic diseases, dangerous and fractious animals and high noise levels.
Educational or Experience Requirements
Relevant work or volunteer experience and one to three years of demonstrated success, or Bachelor’s Degree in a related field such as marketing, communications, or public relations are preferred.
Abilities and Qualifications
Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and major social media platforms. Knowledge of Hootsuite and MailChimp are helpful.
Photography and videography skills and experience are preferred.
Excellent oral and written communication (including punctuation and grammar)
Excellent customer service skills.
Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage priorities and deadlines.
This position has a level of engagement with dogs and cats, so pet allergies must be taken into account and the need to be comfortable around animals and their owners.
This position will require significant time sitting at a desk, yet some days will require mostly mobile activities.
